i’m about to have an actual unpopular opinion here on tumblr [as opposed to people who say ‘unpopular opinion: i like cheeseburgers!’]:

you can’t just break everyone’s nose who says something you don’t like. breaking someone’s nose doesn’t teach them not to rape. it doesn’t teach them why joking about rape is wrong. it actually doesn’t say anything, it breaks someone’s nose. it’s not a proportional response. people say terrible things. they think terrible things. they DO terrible things. i don’t condone joking about rape. but i also don’t condone breaking someone’s face and being proud of it.
